Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Beginners in AI when you use Zero to Power User. Written to be read, not to be survived.
1.Who we are, and what this is
Zero to Power User is an online course that teaches people to use Claude well, published by Beginners in AI. You reach it at learn.beginnersinai.org.
These terms are the agreement between you and us. They apply whenever you use the site, whether you have paid us anything or not. If you do not agree with them, the honest answer is not to use the course.
The business behind Beginners in AI is Solariot, Inc., at 315 West 36th Street, New York, NY 10018, USA. You can write to us there, or email support@beginnersinai.com, which is faster.
2.Your account
You sign in with your email address. We send you a one-time link; there is no password to choose, forget or lose. That link is the key to your account, so treat it like one — do not forward it.
- An account is for one person. Your progress, streak, Skill Score and certificate are a record of what you did, and they stop meaning anything if two people share a login.
- You need to be 18 or over to buy a paid plan, because you need to be able to enter a contract.
- Give us an email address you actually control and can keep. It is how you sign in, and losing access to it means losing access to your account and your certificate.
3.The plans, and what each one includes
The first lesson is free and needs no account. Beyond that there is one paid plan, as a monthly or a yearly subscription:
| Plan | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Full access | $9.99/mo or $59.88/yr ($4.99/mo) | The whole course, every level, kept current as Claude changes. |
The current, authoritative description of each plan is on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any sales tax or VAT, which Stripe calculates at checkout where it applies.
Your subscription covers this course and every other course we publish on this platform, for as long as it runs. If we add a course later, it appears in your account at no extra cost and without you having to do anything. We will not move a course you already have behind a separate charge, and we will not quietly remove anything you were sold.
4.Payment and renewal
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly plans each month, yearly plans each year — until you cancel. Stripe emails you a receipt each time.
- If a payment fails, Stripe retries it over a few days. You keep your access while those retries run. If it ultimately fails, the subscription ends and your account returns to the free tier.
- If we change the price of a plan you are on, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and you will have the chance to cancel before being charged the new amount. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
5.Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, from your account page → Manage billing, which opens Stripe's billing portal. There is no retention call and no form to fill in.
When you cancel:
- You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling on day 2 of a month you paid for does not cut you off on day 2.
- After that, your account returns to the free tier. It is not deleted — your progress, XP, streak history and any certificates stay exactly where they are, and resubscribing picks up where you left off.
- Certificates you have already earned remain valid and publicly verifiable. We do not revoke a certificate because someone stopped paying.
- One thing does depend on an active subscription: keeping the Certified AI Power User credential current requires passing the quarterly delta refresher, which is included in your subscription. If you cancel, your certificate stays genuine and stays verifiable, but its public page will in time say “issued, not current” rather than showing a current-through date. That is described in full in section 8.
6.Your 14-day cancellation right
If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, the law gives you 14 days from the day you subscribe to change your mind and cancel for a refund, without giving a reason. This is a statutory right and it sits on top of anything else on this page.
In practice you don't need to think about which right you're using, because our own refund policy in section 7 is the same 14 days and applies to everyone, wherever you live. Email support@beginnersinai.com within 14 days and you get your money back. We won't deduct a proportionate amount for the days you had access, although the law would let us.
Setting both to the same number is deliberate. A policy that gives UK and EU customers a legal minimum and everyone else something worse is the kind of thing that is technically fine and reads badly, and it doubles the number of rules we have to get right.
7.Refunds
Fourteen days, no questions asked. If you subscribe and decide within 14 days that it isn't for you, email support@beginnersinai.com and we'll refund you in full. Any plan, monthly or yearly. You don't have to tell us why, and we won't make you sit through an argument about it.
That is the same 14 days the law already gives consumers in the UK and the EU (section 6). We've deliberately set one number and applied it to everyone, everywhere, rather than running a meaner policy elsewhere and a legal minimum here.
The three edges
- Renewals. The 14 days runs from the payment you want back. So if a renewal caught you by surprise, you have 14 days from that charge — not from the day you first joined. If you've barely touched the course since it renewed, say so and we'll refund it. Nobody should pay for a year they didn't know had started.
- After the 14 days, we don't refund the rest of a period. You keep full access until it ends, then the account returns to the free tier. Cancel whenever; there's no notice period and nothing to serve out.
- Once you've claimed a certificate, we can't refund the period you claimed it in. The assessment is the expensive part and it's already been delivered — a refund at that point would make the credential free, which isn't fair on everyone who paid for theirs.
- Once you've worked through most of what you paid for, the same logic applies: if you've completed more than half the lessons your plan opens, we can't refund that period. This is not a trap and it is hard to trigger by accident — half the course is a lot of deliberate work, and anyone genuinely deciding it isn't for them knows long before then. It exists so the course can't be read end to end and then handed back, which would leave everyone who paid honestly covering for those who didn't.
How it works
Email us. There's no form. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, and usually land within five to ten business days depending on your bank. We'll confirm by email when we've sent it.
None of this limits your statutory rights. If the law where you live gives you something better than the above, you get the better one.
8.The credential: what it asserts
Still to be decided · James
The credential is not currently on sale. The subscription described in section 3 does not include it, and the exam and capstones are closed. Nothing in this section is something you are being sold today.
It is written out because certificates already issued stay valid and publicly verifiable, and because we intend to reopen the assessment track. If we do, these are the terms it runs on, and we will say so before it goes back on sale.
We issue two kinds of certificate, and it matters that you know exactly what each one claims — a credential that overstates itself is worth less than none.
Level certificates
A level certificate says you cleared every module in that level: you either completed its lessons or passed its mastery check cold, and you passed every mastery check in the level. Optional lessons are side trips and are not required.
The Certified AI Power User credential
This one says something narrower and stronger. To hold it you must have:
- cleared every level of the course, including every module mastery check;
- passed a 60-minute timed scenario exam at 75% or better, drawn from randomised item banks so no two attempts are the same, with a limit of two attempts per month; and
- had two real-build capstones accepted — you submit evidence from work you actually did, and a human reads it against a published rubric.
Every certificate has a public verification page at learn.beginnersinai.org/verify/<id> showing who it was issued to, what it is, when it was issued, and whether it is still valid.
Two things the verification page does that most credentials do not
It shows live mastery, not a frozen score. The number on the page is recomputed from your assessed skill at the moment someone loads it. Skills rust without review, and that number is allowed to say so — and to climb again when you prove the skill a second time.
It shows currency. The Claude platform changes every few months, so the credential carries a “current through” date. Passing the 15-minute quarterly delta refresher extends it. If you do not, the page says “issued, not current”. That is honest decay, not revocation: the certificate remains genuine, and it never stops being verifiable.
What the credential is not
- It is not an accredited qualification and not regulated by any educational authority. It is our assessment, and it says what we saw you do.
- It is not issued, endorsed or recognised by Anthropic. It is assessed on the Claude platform; that is the whole of the relationship.
- It is not a promise of a job, a client, an income or any particular outcome.
9.When we can revoke a certificate
Revoking is rare and we do not do it lightly — the point of a credential is that it holds. We may revoke one if:
- the assessment was not genuinely yours: someone else sat the exam, the capstone evidence was fabricated or was someone else's work, or the account was shared;
- it was issued in error — a bug, a mis-scored attempt, or a mistake on our side; or
- the payment for the plan that produced it was reversed or charged back and not put right.
Cancelling your subscription is not grounds for revocation, and neither is letting the credential go out of currency.
One case is not revocation at all, though it uses the same machinery: if you ask us to delete your account, we remove your name from any certificate and close it, because we can no longer hold the details that verify it. Its page then says it was closed at the holder's request and states plainly that this is a privacy choice, not a mark against you. See the privacy policy.
If we revoke a certificate we will email you, at the address on the account, saying which certificate and why. Its public page will then read “Revoked” instead of showing the credential. If you think we have it wrong, reply to that email — a real person will look again, and we will reinstate it if we were mistaken.
10.Using the course fairly
Short version: learn from it, build with it, tell people about it. Do not take it apart and sell it.
Specifically, please do not:
- share your login, or buy one plan for a team — if you need seats for a group, email us and we will work something out;
- copy, scrape or republish the lessons, exercises, exam questions or playbooks, or use them to build a competing course;
- publish exam or mastery-check questions and answers anywhere. It is the one thing that devalues the credential for everyone who earned it honestly;
- attack, probe or try to extract answers from the grading system. (Answers are graded on our servers and never sent to your browser, so there is nothing there to find — but the attempt is still a breach of these terms.)
11.Who owns what
We own the course. The lessons, exercises, exam banks, playbooks, artwork and the Zero to Power User name belong to Beginners in AI. While your subscription is active you have a personal, non-transferable licence to use all of it for your own learning. That licence ends when your access does.
You own your work. Everything you write into the course — your answers, your capstone submissions, and anything you go on to build with what you learn — is yours. We do not claim any ownership of it, and anything you build is yours to use commercially without owing us anything.
We need a narrow permission to make the course work: to store what you submit, grade it, and — for capstones — have a human read it against the rubric. That is the extent of it. We will not publish your work, quote it in marketing, or show it to anyone outside that review without asking you first and getting a yes.
12.Claude is not ours
An independent course by Beginners in AI. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic, PBC.We teach a product we do not build and do not control. Anthropic can change Claude's features, pricing, plan structure and model line-up whenever it likes, and it does.
So: we keep the course current, and the quarterly delta refresher exists precisely because the ground moves. But we cannot promise that any specific Claude feature will still exist, still work the same way, or still cost the same as when you subscribed. You will also need your own Claude account, on whatever terms Anthropic sets, and that is between you and them.
13.Availability and changes to the course
We aim to keep the course up and working, but we do not promise a specific uptime figure — we would rather say nothing than publish a number we cannot stand behind.
The course grows and gets edited. Lessons are added, rewritten and occasionally retired as Claude changes. Mastery checks and exam banks are updated for the same reason. We will not remove a whole level or plan you are paying for without telling you by email first and giving you a chance to cancel.
14.What we are and are not responsible for
The course is educational. We teach you to use a tool well; we are not responsible for the decisions you make with it, the work you produce, or what happens to that work. Check Claude's output before you rely on it — that is, in fact, one of the things the course teaches.
We provide the course with reasonable care and skill, but not with a guarantee that it is uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a specific purpose you have in mind and have not told us about.
What we don't cover
We are not liable for indirect or knock-on losses: lost profits, lost revenue, lost savings, lost or corrupted data, business interruption, or loss of opportunity — however they arise, and even if we were told they were possible.
Where our liability can lawfully be limited, our total liability to you for everything connected with these terms is capped at what you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. For most people that is $9.99 a month, or $59.88 for a year. We would rather say that plainly than bury it.
What is never capped
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights about services being provided with reasonable care and skill, and including the refund and cancellation rights in sections 6 and 7. If any part of this section turns out to be unenforceable where you live, the rest still stands.
Things outside our control
We are not responsible for failures caused by things we don't run: your internet connection, your device, or changes to, or outages of, Claude itself. Section 12 covers that last one in full.
15.Ending your access
You can stop at any time: cancel your subscription, or simply stop signing in. If you want your account and data deleted entirely, email us and we will do it — see the privacy policy for what that involves and what we have to keep.
We may suspend or close an account that materially breaches section 10, or that is being used fraudulently. If we do, we will tell you why, and if you had paid for a period you could not use because of a suspension we got wrong, we will refund that part.
16.Changes to these terms
We will update this page as the course changes. The date at the top always says when it last changed.
For minor edits — clearer wording, a corrected link — we will just make them. For anything that materially affects what you get or what you pay, we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then if you do not want to accept it. We will not apply a changed term retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
17.Law and disputes
If something goes wrong, email us first. Nearly everything is fixable by a person reading the message and replying, and we would much rather do that.
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York, USA, and its courts have jurisdiction.
Whichever law that is, it does not take away your right, as a consumer, to bring a claim in the country where you live and under its consumer protection rules. For UK and EU consumers that right cannot be signed away, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
We are not asking you to waive a jury trial or to give up joining a group claim. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable where you live, that part drops out and the rest continues to apply.
18.How to reach us
Email support@beginnersinai.com. A person reads it.
These terms were last updated on 7 August 2026. See also our Privacy Policy.
