The Subscription Reckoning

Find out what 'only $9.99 a month' actually adds up to.

Most people underestimate their subscription spend by hundreds a year, and every forgotten free trial is counting on it. One honest session with this app usually pays for itself on the spot.

Show the prompt ▾
Create an interactive artifact: a subscription audit tracker. Let me add each subscription with a name, price, billing cycle (monthly or yearly), category, and a 'when did I last actually use this?' picker with options like this week, this month, and can't remember. Show a dashboard up top: total per month, total per year, and cost by category. Give each row a verdict toggle — keep, downgrade, or cancel — and show a 'money you'd free up' banner totaling what my cancels would save per year. Pre-load five example subscriptions so I can see it working, and let me delete them. Add a 'copy audit summary' button that produces clean text of my totals and cancel list. Everything in React state, no login or saving. Friendly style: rounded cards, cheerful colors, and gently judgmental copy when I pick 'can't remember'.

You get: A sortable subscription list with keep/downgrade/cancel verdicts, monthly and yearly totals, and a running 'money you'd free up' number that gets very motivating.

Your data: Your list lives only while the artifact is open — copy the audit summary out when you're done, or paste your bank statement into the chat first and ask Claude to bake the subscriptions in before building.

Remix it

  • Add renewal dates and sort by 'what charges me next'.
  • Add a 'price crept up' flag comparing what I signed up at versus what I pay now.
  • Turn the freed-up total into something concrete — show it as a yearly vacation fund.
  • Add a shared-household view that splits each subscription by who actually uses it.

Personal Runway Dashboard

One big number: how many months your money lasts.

Budget apps bury the only number that matters under forty categories and a login screen. This answers 'am I okay?' in one glance and updates with a single paste each month.

Show the prompt ▾
Create an interactive artifact: a personal runway dashboard. Inputs panel: cash on hand, monthly take-home income, and a list of monthly expenses I add by category. Dashboard: a big 'months of runway' number (cash divided by the monthly shortfall, showing 'you're cash-flow positive' when income covers expenses), monthly burn rate, a bar chart of spending by category, and a 12-month projected-balance line chart. Add a what-if slider that trims all spending by 0 to 30 percent and shows how the runway number moves. Include a 'paste my numbers' box that accepts simple lines like 'Rent: 1400' and fills the expense list for me, so updating each month is one paste. Start with realistic example numbers I can overwrite. React state only — no login, no saving. Friendly style: calm, reassuring colors, big readable numbers, zero finance-bro jargon.

You get: A dashboard with your runway in months front and center, burn and category charts, a what-if slider, and a paste box that swallows your monthly numbers in one go.

Your data: Built paste-to-update: each month you paste fresh numbers into the app's paste box (or into the chat and ask Claude to rebuild it) — nothing syncs to your bank, and nothing persists between visits unless you're on Pro and publish it with persistent storage.

Remix it

  • Add a savings-goal line: at my current pace, when do I hit a target amount?
  • Add irregular annual costs like insurance and holidays, spread across the months.
  • Add a second scenario column comparing 'current me' and 'frugal me' side by side.
  • Color the runway number green, amber, or red using thresholds I choose.
